It’s a three-day weekend marking the end of summer — Labor Day Weekend. It’s one more day to hang out with the kids at home, one more night sleeping in the Murphy bed in the TV room with the little monsters.

They love it when we pull that bed down during the weekends. They won’t even let us put it back up during the day. Now t’s like a 3-night sleepover, watching movies they’ve seen before while munching on freshly-popped popcorn. It’s such a thing for them — the movies and popcorn with the bed down. I adore how these little things delight my kids so quickly, even though the room turns into a terrible mess after, and I don’t get to sleep well.

But it’s not a big deal. It brings so much joy to the kids, so we let them. Sometimes, they even light up the fireplace to roast marshmallows for s’mores, no matter the season. They’re just nuts, but we’re even crazier to agree to it. Well, my husband always agrees to do it. But they sometimes have to beg me if they can, because I think it’s ridiculous, especially when it’s summertime! But I mostly give in and just stay out of the room.

Indoor s’mores while watching a good movie? I can’t take that away from them!
