About Maile

I am a lot of things but mostly I’m a mom-a-lot for five dogs, four kids, and three cats. My eldest has moved out, finished college, and I have three kids left with me. And my quirky husband. He’s here for now. As long as I don’t get another pet.

When I get some moments to myself, I like to devour information off the internet and books. In my previous lifetime, my work involved working in startups in the San Francisco/Bay Area, on the operations/HR side. I loved it. I enjoyed the mess and the chaos I had to work through to organize and get systems going. I’m still into that and for the past few years, I’ve taken many online classes on web development, productivity, business, and writing. I don’t like to be bored. I need to wake up in a panic over some deadline I have to meet to feel fulfilled.

Outside the home, I love driving, hiking, going on road trips, camping trips, heading out to the beach just to see the ocean or sit in the sand (too cold to go in, though I used to surf). I also love to sit at airports and long plane rides.

I also love grocery shopping and I can roam a bookstore for an entire day multiple times a week. But I cannot tell you when’s the last time I’ve been inside a mall.

Challenges I’ve been trying to get through lately are maintaining focus, going to bed early, getting the important things done on a consistent basis, and being organized and efficient with my learning and implementation.

I’d like to explore writing some more about my life experiences growing up in different countries and culture, being a single parent for over 20 years, then getting married and having two more children in my 40s.
